During the hectic holidays, it’s easy to get run down. When you’re focused on taking care of everything, taking care of yourself is often the last thing on your long list of things to do.
It’s time to put your health ahead of other to do’s, so you can stave off the colds and illness that get passed around so easily at this time of year. The good news is there are natural remedies that can help boost your immune system to help get you well when you start to feel a cold coming on.
Just five drops in a half of a glass of water is all it takes. You’ll want to drink this up to three times per day on an empty stomach, depending on the severity of your symptoms. It’s not something to take straight, or sprinkle directly on food, as it can burn your throat. I recommend starting off with one dosage and then increasing from there.
Don’t fool yourself into thinking that eating oregano will have the same effect. It’s the same plant, but Oil of Oregano is super concentrated. Ours comes from high mountain oregano, which has higher amounts of carvacrol, the active ingredient. As with any natural remedy, quality matters because it increases its effectiveness.
As natural remedies go, Oil of Oregano is one of my favorites. I keep a small bottle with me when I’m traveling, so I have it when I need it. Where people often fall short in taking supplements of many kinds is that they wait too long, so their cold has already taken a firm hold. Having it handy and taking it at the first sign of a cold is the key.
Give it a try, and let me know how it helps you. Here’s to a happy and healthier you in 2017!
